Default The Ultimate Monk

When i got Blessed Sig i was pondering ways to use it. Many things had to be considered:
1. How many enchantments would i maintain at one time? Would i gain more from the sig while i maintain enchantments or having the energy regen.

2. Blessed Sig isn't enough to keep my energy up so what else is there?

3. What kind of healing spells would i use and what attributes lvls would i need?

After much testing i have created the Ultimate Monk. Here is my skills bar and attribute lvls http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/8...atemonk5im.png

Here's how it works. Cast essence bond on each warrior in your party. Some may say why not use balthazar's spirit. Reason i don't is because balthazar gives the energy and adrinaline to the person that it was cast on not you. Where as essence bond givs the energy to you. You want to maintain up to 3-4 essence bonds at once. Personally always maintain 4. I maxed my divine favor out so i can gain up to 23 energy from Blessed Sig. If you don't max divine favor out make sure you have it up high enough to gain 12 energy. Here is why this is the Ultamate Monk. Get your smiting up to lvl 6 at least and use zealot's fire. Zealot's will do dmg to foes surrounding allies you cast any spell on so while you are healing your allies you are doing dmg to enemies to and nice amount at that. My biggest problem was finding the right healing spell and res. With my divine favor so high up i chose dwanya's kiss and orison. Both are only 5 energy, fast casting speed, and fast recharge. Since you are maintaining enchantments on allies kiss will heal for quite a bit. As for the res spell i didn't like any choice i saw. Then i used a cap sig on the hero monk outside TOA for the false gods quest and found an interesting skill called divine intervention (For 10 sec if ally is delt lethal dmg the dmg is negated and they gain x amount of life, mine is healing for 233). The main thing that swayed me to use it is its casting time 1/4. Probly the fastest skill on the game and you don't accually die. If i see someone getting really low i cast it on them then forgot about healing them and work on someone else.

Just having Blessed sig and Essence bond is enough to give you almost infinite energy. Since i have so much energy i just alternate between casting kiss and orison after activating zealot's fire to do dmg in an area while keeping my party well healed.

TRC (technical requirements checklist) for posting smth like this: "pwning build", "best ever monk", "ultimate build":
1) make sure you are at least beta tester
2) you play > 40hours during weekend

Just joking
But, seriously, before posting this at least beat the game and get some elites (well, i know there are some uber-specific builds that your team requires that doesnt use elites.. usually there is 1 slot though).

Next time if you come up with the build first skip through old posts - maybe they discuss smth similar there so post there.
If you think that you invented smth absolutely new - feel free to post, but plz dont claim its ultimate...

i'm getting there for the elites but i think that gives this build i'm using now even more merit because i don't have a single elite yet and no one in my party ever dies (even full henches in desert on missions!!!)

don't know if this has been posted before this is my first time here and haven't cruised any. i created this from my own thinking and if someone else as already figured it out then that's great. this build its that hard to convert too only takes 2 healing spells, blessed sig, and essence bond. everything else is cream on the cake.

This is not origanal.

Any good healing monk can get through the desert missions without anyone dieing and all henchies (take this as a complement).

This build is also easily shut down. Just look at the necro line of enchantment removal and you have no energy. Well of the Profane destroys this build. With protective spirit, all the very common spike builds are running high amounts of enchantment removal.

And like any healing monk, a mesmer still shuts you down.

Sorry to sound like an asshole, but there are way too many threads on this site and others titled, "Best [insert class here] ever!!!!!"

first off if you know GW well enough you know any build can be easily snuffed. the game was made to be that way there is no uber build that will kill everthing. difference with this build is i can heal as well as do dmg. not saying this is the best monk out there that's just the name i call it (sorry if you think that is misleading but if you really believe it is the best build then you don't know GW very well). a mes will shutdown any spell caster that's their job. just like a necro will shutdown any warrior.

you can name any build you like and i can tell you something to counter it. point is compare it to a monk that doesn't use blessed sig and essence bond.

I've never used blessed signet or essense bond and I've gotten by just fine. I'm a healing monk, but one hell of a smiter when I need to be. The thing with this is, it needs to be tested in PvE AND PvP. Also people will brag about how their build is better and no other of that class can match it. This is a total lie.

Every area of each class has it's ups and downs. It's how you stack skills. And this is personal preference and play style.

Myself, I take Divine Boon, Healing Breeze, Orision of Healing, heal other, Bane signet, balthazzar's aura, rez sig, and spellbreaker/or signet of judgement.

Am I the ultimate monk? No. Do I know the skills I use inside and out? Yes. Do I know the weakpoints on my team and know how to fill the gap with the skills I use? Yes. That's all that matters.

Adding Divine Boon to this build would greatly improve it, check the Fi Boon Healer PvP premade for reference as to why.

Based on the current environment, say goodbye to your whole strategy the moment a spirit spammer team hits the floor. Even just 1 Nature's Renewal means setting up all of the enchants again from scratch, which can cost time you don't have.

the only reason i don't use divine boon is because you need so spam healing spells while you have zealot's fire on. you have enough to energy to last you forever so that's not a problem.

there is always going to be something to break enchantments just like there is stuff to break hexes its all balanced. they have to be prepared against it. that's what makes any enchantment and hex work is that you bank on them not being able to break it and if they do ways to prevent it.

soon as i can i'll be changing to 2nd class mes

People are pointing out the obvious flaws because you called it 'ultimate' when in reality, we all know that spot is reserved for Alesia/Mhenlo alone, duh! ;P

All hail the ultimate monks, who show us that the best builds are simplistic, with only 5 skills!

On-topic, Life Bond is often chosen over Essence Bond, coupled with Balthazar's Spirit to kill 2 birds with one stone. However, seeing as you're already invested into healing, smiting, and Divine Favour, I could imagine why you chose not to do that.

One thing that I wonder though, is this a PvE centric or PvP centric build?

I'd think this should be pretty useful in PvE , although that other farming monk guys build [check the farming video thread, amazing stuff] with Protective Bond + Lowering your max Hp to hell in gone with runes [resulting in only taking a max of 5- damage per hit] + a simple spell like Mending [which is now useful because of the low damage you take] .....then smack on some energy recovery spell somewhere and uh...happy farming and tanking? (obviously only useful in PvE and assuming no enchantment strippinp, otherwise you are dead in seconds)..

There isn't one utlimate build, there is no ultimate build, it all depends on what you are doing. Example:

If you are running solo to farm, Essence Bond is useful because you will be taking a lot of damage over a small amount of time, and you would be able to keep your energy up.

However if you bring Essence Bond with a PUG and you are a primary healer, then Essence Bond is not as effective, because chances are, most of the time one warrior will not be taking most of the damage, so the energy gain from Essence Bond does not deserve a skill slot. Divine Favor is more effective for a healing build.

As for PVP, I can't say, I'm not experienced enough.

For me, I change out 4-5 spells whether I do Smiting or Healing.

But all I am saying, is that there probably isn't just one build that is ultimate for all types of game play. If anything, change the title to Ultimate PVP/Farming/PVE. (kidding)

There's something called 'the metagame'. In the current state of the game, one of the most popular builds is the 'spirit spamming' build. This includes a lot of Nature's Renewal spamming, which means, that as the current metagame is, your build is useless.

yes well i expect that nature's renewal will be changed if it dominates everything so balance will be restored. that one skill shuts down 3 classes out of 6 while making a decoy to tank the hits. that is completely overpowered. i love this game because of its balance. hopefully they will keep it balanced and get that spell changed. if they change it to preventing new hexes and enchantments that would be balanced.

oh btw this is a PvE minotaur farmer. right now i can take on 5 at one time. I tried taking on 8 at once and almost killed them all but healing touch takes too long to recharge. i haven't found a good balance for farming yet.

Nature's Renewal doesn't do much against 1/4s cast Enchantments like Reversal of Fortune. It also doesn't do that much against 1s cast Enchantments like Healing Breeze. Plus, it's not difficult to kill spirits, unless Fertile Season is up, which means Monks won't have any problems healing.

In my opinion, there are only two good Monk farming builds. The first uses Superior Runes with Protective Bond and Health Regeneration skills to ensure invulnerability, with Symbol of Wrath, Balthazar's Aura, and/or Zealot's Fire to do damage. The second uses Divine Boon to heal (Healing Touch will just slow you down, although Reversal of Fortune is good) and Zealot's Fire to damage. They both use Channeling, Balthazar's Spirit, and/or Bonetti's Defense to generate energy.

i'm going to be using channeling soon as i get my 2nd class changed. i choose necro thinking i could maintain an army. i soon learned that a 2nd class necro the animations don't last as long as a primary. not one single spell in the necro class helps me at all. soon as i get to change my class i'll be a mes lots of helpfull stuff there.

Well - my concern it - too many damn mezmer mobs out there LOVE it when you have an enchantment around, and they strip it and do 80 damage into the bargain.

I gave up on using boon because the first thing that happened at the start of most fights was it would vanish along with a chunk of health.

Wow, people are just getting meaner and meaner everyday, makes me wanna slap them.

For your "build" (-Ugh, I hate that term-) I find it quite good, Hopefully you find the right elite to fit here (-If you plan on using one that is-)

Always remember, every strategy has a countrer strategy.
